Fetch the installer
Phones and tablets can open our Apps page in the browser and take the Android package directly. On a TV box, spare yourself the misery of spelling out a web address with a directional pad and use Downloader with the code from that same page.
Let the install through
Android will ask whether the browser, or Downloader, is allowed to install software. Say yes. The grant covers that single app, and you can withdraw it again afterwards with no effect on the player.
Feed it your line details
Start the player, select Xtream Codes and fill in the server, username and password held on your account. There is an M3U field if you would rather paste one link, though the extra typing buys you a proper fixture guide.
Turn hardware decoding on
Inside the player settings, switch decoding to hardware and work through the decoders until one holds steady. On budget boxes this single setting separates clean fifty frame football from a picture that smears the moment play breaks.
Worth knowing before match day
- Sport at fifty or sixty frames is far heavier work than a drama at twenty-five. When films behave and football does not, change the decoder before you go blaming your broadband.
- The same box behaves like a different product once it is on a cable. If the router sits anywhere within reach, plug it in.
- Picture with no audio usually points at the audio decoder rather than the feed. International sports channels carry tracks some boxes will not touch, and switching decoder in settings clears it.
