Windows PC and Laptop
Useful as a second screen for a clashing fixture, and quicker than anything else at telling you whether a fault sits with the subscription or with your television.
Before you start
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- Your Strong 8K Live credentials, or your M3U link
Install the Windows player
Take the installer from our Apps page and run it. SmartScreen may flag the publisher as unknown, which is what Windows does with everything not shipped through its own store. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Add your credentials
Launch the app and enter the Xtream server, username and password. VLC does the job just as well if you would sooner open your M3U link and install nothing further.
Use the laptop as your test rig
Play a handful of channels from different groups with the machine on a cable. Clean playback here alongside stutter on the television tells you the line is healthy and the fault sits on the television side, which removes most of the guesswork.
Worth knowing before match day
- A wired laptop is the strongest evidence you can gather that the subscription itself is fine. Run that test before you start altering router settings.
- For the fastest sanity check going, open VLC, choose Media, then Open Network Stream, and paste the M3U link.
- A large monitor holding two browser tabs and a player window makes a genuinely decent multi-fixture setup on a busy Saturday.
